The Spent Cases Shooting Club - Membership fees

Micky
In order for us to get Home Office Approval as soon as possible we will need to get our affiliations arranged.
Current prices are:
NSRA £63
NRA £125 ish.
Home Office Approval £86
There are a number of options open at the moment, but as you can see the final bill is going to be quite large.
We need to consider our membership fees and options now in preparation for the Bank Account.
So, how much do we want to set as the annual fee? Do we go for a Life Membership set as a multiple of the annual fee? Does anyone want to keep the family membership for married members.
I will have to start work on a new document for the club, which will list the various decisions we take that do not form part of the constitution.
Can we have your ideas, suggestions, proposals etc. for membership fees and options or any other thoughts. Please start different threads if the subject is one that is going to require separate discussions.

Lee
I'm not sure we should have the life membership. Instead we could have a yearly fee, a five year fee (which would work or cheaper over the five years) and possibly a ten year fee. This is because... let say I'm around for another 30 years, either I pay out one hell of a sum to cover the next 30 years or I will be making one hell of a saving.

Simon
Maybe its worth having a look at other clubs to see what sort of membership fees they charge. From what I remember the Cornwall Fullbore Pistol club charged the same as the Uni. club did, £15 for new members and £10 for renewals.
A fixed payment for members for 5 or 10 years may be more attractive to old and new members alike than a yearly fee.

Mr Kemp
Cornwall Full Bore Pistol Club
£20 / year
£10 Joining Fee
O.G.R.E. £15 per year.

Mr Kemp
How does this sound?
Initial Membership fee £20
Renewal fee £15
5 year Membership fee £65 (1 x initial + 3 x renewal)
10 year membership fee £125 (1 x initial + 7 x renewal)
Individual e-mail address through club's domain name (either .co.uk or org.uk) £1 each per year.
5 & 10 year membership only available to full members.

Simon
Sounds good.
Making people pay up in advance means we will have to watch the money, especially if lots of members pay in advance.
Speaking of money, the bank account is being processed, too much work to do apparently, hence the reason its not done yet. Must be a busy time of year for the account manager.

Mr Kemp
The other side to this is that if people pay in advance it will give us an incentive to keep going. I shall leave the budgeting in Simon's hands, as you know I am useless with money. I can't see many expenses except affiliations at the moment. Having thought about it a bit more, the ten year membership may be a little too long.

Simon
Whatever we finally decide on for the membership fees, may I suggest that when the account is setup, that everyone pays £15 towards the joining fee.
This will then be taken off whatever membership option they consider taking once its all been decided and finalised. This will allow us to push ahead with the HO approval and possibly the affiliations.

Discussion ends.

Proposal:
Mr Kemp
Please select one of the options above. The relevant proposals are below. You should be able to vote only once. The voting is anonymous and does not log your user name, as far as I can tell. If you are not sure about the proposals then vote for Option 5 and we'll continue the discussion on the other thread. I will leave voting open until 5pm Friday Aug 30th. After then, depending on the result, I will produce a set of minutes from the discussion thread including the vote and treat as a committee meeting. Is that OK with everyone?

Options: Figures based on first years membership.
Proposal 1:
Annual Fee for renewal set at £15 per year. £5 Joining Fee. 5 Year membership set at 4 x Renewal + joining fee if applicable. (Example £20 annual, £65 5 year)

Resolved: To accept Proposal 4 as indicated above. Membership fees will be decided on an annual basis at the Club's AGM. The rates of membership until December 31st 2003 will be £15 per year. 5 and 10 year membership decided as a multiple of annual membership as outlined in the proposal above. A joining fee of £10 will apply to all new members of the club. Only full members will be allowed to take advantage of the 5 and 10 year membership options. Any person who ceases to be a member of the club, for whatever reason, will not automatically be entitled to a refund of membership fees. The committee reserve the right to refund in whole or in part unused membership fees at their discretion. The joining fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Please note that all members will be considered as new members this year.
